Jamie Cagney began his work in landscaping in 2002 while working as a bartender and going to school to find what it is he wanted to do with his life. Finding how interested he became in landscaping, he searched for a school to get formally educated in the field. This search brought him to College of DuPage and Morton Arboretum. Over the next three years, he earned degrees in Ornamental Horticulture,
Landscape Design and Construction, and Landscape and Turf Maintenance. During this time, Jamie attended various seminars, ranging from design to installation to sales. After graduating with High Honors, Jamie competed in a state landscape competition, earning recognition in many fields including Plant Identification, Landscape Construction and Maintenance Bidding, and Landscape Construction techniques. Jamie completed a year-long internship with a highly respected and successful landscape company serving in the areas of Garden Center Management, Landscape Design, Construction Techniques and Sales. Upon being offered a position for the next year, Jamie searched his soul, decided that it was time to start out on his own, and went into business for himself. Now Jamie serves as a mentor to those who graduated with him and are trying to succeed in their fields. He hopes to soon return to College of DuPage to teach.
